Senior Night

Game 12: 5 October at STA on Senior Night vs. Blue Valley (2-1 OT)

Our seniors took the stage tonight, and they got us a nice overtime victory. Honestly, we appeared to be missing 6 quarts of energy during pregame.  But B talked with a couple of seniors who lead us in a great warm-up and then our starting lineup, with all of our seniors in it for the first 10 minutes, looked pretty sharp.

The first half did show some signs of what did us in during the final match in Iowa as our diamond did not produce enough defense as they dropped back on top of our back four, again.

I did think we talked about it at half, and we were much better in the second half. The stats show us with a burst of better offense in the second half to go along with it. Mission accomplished.

Missing Reid Howard, the captain of our defense, we just have to give a collective shoutout to freshman Mitchell Farrar who gave us 90 great minutes at centerback.  The frosh really had a nice match.

BWhite named Landon Wirt the BWhite Player of the Match. He demonstrated that will-to-win he has, a trait that once again made us and him Golden in overtime. He had to get up over Joey to head that ball, and he did.

Mrs. Payne and her crew did just a great job of honoring our seniors from Mrs. Stoecklin's in-fence designs to a beautiful and yummy cake to a great slideshow of our 8 guys. (I hope our younger guys listened to the advice the seniors left them: they had some well-thought-out nuggets.) Check it out!

Thank you, Curt Whigham, Landon Wirt, Ryan Holland, Mark Biggins, Jack Shaw, Spencer Mogren, Michael Davidson, and Eli Weissend for four great years.
