Bandage Out 2017

25 August at STA vs. St. James Academy (1-1, 2 OT's)

One of the best tweets of the night came from STA principal, Craig Moss, who tweeted something to the effect of "the real winner of tonight was the Noah Wilson Bandage Project."

Just the truth.

Thank you BWhite and the families (Lisa Stoeckline on lead with Wirts, Howards, Cartas, Masons, & Caraghers) and the communities of both St. James and STA who so readily support this event. Our varsity soccer girls did a great job of greeting the crowd, collecting band-aids and funds. JV girls' coach, Amanda Nelson, donated her time to the cause as well!

Video captures some of the events.

And we get to keep the trophy at STA for the 4th year in a row. (You have to win to move the trophy from one school to the other.) So, we held court, getting to have the Clevinger family present the trophy after the match.  The Clevinger/Cobb trophy presentation one of the ending highlights of the night!

Overall, first game and all, I thought we played well.  We would like to win a game in which we have created the number of quality opportunities to score that we did last night. Dunsmore did have a couple of big-time saves. Saint James is the defending State Champ, with a roster of 16 seniors, and most all of their team back. So, they can play a little, too.

BWhite named sophomore defensive center midfielder, Gabe Kraft, the BWhite Player of the Match. It was Gabe's first-ever varsity match, and he played the entirety of regulation.  Now, I am not saying that was a great coaching decision in that we should have given him a few breaks to rehydrate, etc., but the fact does just accentuate how well he was playing. As he recuperates this morning after 4 IV's, he can reflect on what kind of positive impact he had on the match with his ability to win so many balls in the middle of the field and make so many key tackles. He will only get better.

B gave 2 shoutouts: 1) Joey Caragher 2) Parker Stoecklein.

B and the entire staff, however, felt it would be hard to find many players who did not play well last night. This game is nuts anyway with 3, 000 fans screaming in the first major event of the school year.

We just applaud the effort.

And we know we will see St. James again if this season plays out the way we expect it to.

Also . . . just a solid officiating job as well.
