State Conso Game

Game 21: 4 November vs. Kapaun at Maize in 3rd Place Game (0-2).

We finished 4th in the state for the first time in STA history. We also contributed to the stat that those who play the late match on Friday lose 75% of the time. So unpredictable, yet predictable.

We loved the offense we generated in the second half. We hit the baseline hard to create 3-4 great opportunities.

What was troubling, of course, was the fact that once again this weekend we gave up a goal of a corner relatively easily.

So, as we start our list of things for next year, we will start with that—work on defending the corner.

I found my All-State goalkeeper vote as well today. The Kapaun keeper was special. His save on Joey’s low laser with his back foot and his back post save of Whigham’s volley of the perfect D-ball, both in the second half, robbed us of two goals.

BWhite named the senior class as the BWhite Players of the Match: Mark Biggins, Curt Whigham, Jack Shaw, Ryan Holland, Landon Wirt, Eli Weissend, and Spencer Mogren.

STATS:

First Half:  Saints. Shots. 1 (1) Corners 3 (Biggins 2. Whigham).

Kapaun. Shots 3 (2). Corners. 2

3:56 Mia (comes from midfield to follow the weak clear)

Second Half:  Saints. 4 (2). Corners. 0

Kapaun. 1 (1). Corners. 3

25:53 McCulley (Barrier bends right-footed corner).
